Residential building Zwolle
Completion date 2009
The Rembrandtflat of Woningstichting Openbaar Belang that was built in 1966 received a considerable revamp. It is a pilot scheme for energy-saving measures. Hundreds of households achieve thirty percent savings on their energy bills. These yields are achieved through, amongst others, solar panels, heat pumps and insulation. In addition to these technical changes, we improved the quality of living by modifying the staircases and galleries. The existing entrance was demolished and replaced by an annex with an area for the caretaker. Security has been vastly improved with visibility of the entrance, stairs and lifts and the outdoor area. The flat complex is more appealing and more energy-efficient. The energy saving measures ensure that 15000 trees are saved. That is quite a forest. The equivalent of one hundred football fields.
