Machinefabriek Zandhuis & Zwart is a factory building from the 1930s. The building consists of a forge and a workshop and was designed by architect Maarten van Harte. He has several industrial buildings to his name in Deventer. On behalf of Advicus, Studio Groen+Schild has designed a plan for the redevelopment of this industrial heritage.

In total, there will be nine residences. The two director's residences of Messrs. Zandhuis and Zwart will remain independent homes. In the forge, three residences will be created, while the workshop behind the machine factory will house four new residences. With respect to the existing structure, the spaces have been carefully integrated. The apartments will all feature beautiful industrial details, including the striking frames and original steel beams.

The buildings will undergo sustainability measures such as insulation, secondary glazing, and a gas-free installation. The execution has commenced, and the old advertisement text on the facade has already been restored by volunteers from the Industrial Heritage Foundation Deventer, SIED.
