Two young entrepreneurs have asked us to design an event venue in the Havenkwartier of Deventer. The location at the end of the Bodenloods is called PUNT and consists of a large and a small hall; NoordPUNT and OostPUNT. The key element in the design is a wooden volume that separates these two halls from each other. Inside the volume are the kitchen and toilets. On either side, there are floor-to-ceiling cabinets, real eye-catchers. They are filled with tableware, beautiful objects from the owners, pots, and plants. On the gable end, an artist, I AM EELCO, has created a beautiful mural. The insulated concrete floor with underfloor heating, insulated walls, and new windows contribute to the sustainability of the building and provide a pleasant indoor climate. With the sustainability measures and the new use, this industrial heritage remains preserved for the city.
